John 14:25-26 "All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
Jesus was preparing His Apostles
for His crucifixion, which would occur shortly. The time of Him being with them
daily was coming to an end, and the time of the indwelling God's Holy Spirit
was about to commence. Our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, will always prepare
our hearts for impending trouble. Therefore, it is unwise to postpone or delay
learning the Holy Word of God's guidelines and values, waiting for tribulation
to come upon us.
Comprehending the Holy Word of
God's precepts will be difficult when walking a rocky path. We will be too
stressed during one of these storms to understand what we need from God's Holy
Word. Therefore, an in-depth study of the Bible should be an ongoing process of
life to prepare our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls for any trial or
tribulation that will undoubtedly come our way. James tells us that it is not
if a test will come our way, but when they come (James 1:2).
The first book of the Apostle
Peter was written for followers and believers in Christ Jesus going through
storms of life, specifically spelling out how we should strengthen and bolster
our souls before tribulation comes our way. The Holy Spirit was an instructor
to the Apostles that would lead them in writing scripture and provide them with
the leadership needed to establish Christ Jesus's Church on this earth. These
teachings included all the things Jesus taught them while they were with Him
and things He did not teach them during His earthly ministry.
The Holy Spirit of God does not
directly reveal new things to followers and believers in Christ today; he
reminds us and opens our eyes to the things that are already in the complete
Word of God. This suggestion is not to say that we will not learn new things
each day we study the Word of God. On the contrary, there will always be new
things that we will know about God through His Holy Word every time we sit down
to study. We hear from God every time we open His Word, and this happens
through a dynamic trio known as the Trinity, the Father, The Son, and The Holy
Spirit. God assured us that the Words of Our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus,
would be available for all generations and then distributed the Power that
would allow His word to come alive in our minds. Just as the Apostles were
about to experience the greatest tribulation in their lives, we will always
have to face dark valleys and rocky roads as long as we are in this body. Prior
knowledge of the Word of God will not only calm our raging seas but also allow
us to be more aware of why we are going through the trials we face.
