Bible Verse of the Day Wednesday July 5th , 2023

Psalm 106:6 We have sinned, even as our ancestors did; we have done wrong and acted wickedly.

Sin is not a new phenomenon; the truthfulness of God’s Holy Word lets us study the foolishness and insubordination of the people of God in the past. We should learn from their lost chances and adversities they brought upon themselves and not make the same mistakes in our lifetime. We should also comprehend the minor differences between them and us today and live with a renewed passion for surrendering ourselves to Christ Jesus more faithfully.

In the seventh chapter of the Book of Acts, Steven schooled the leaders in Israel concerning their negative volition against the Word of God (Acts 7:51-53). He told them that as their ancestors did, they were rejecting the ministry of the Holy Spirit. The Israelites of old had also persecuted the prophets sent to teach them of the coming of the Messiah (Acts 3:14). Stephen did not alter his message to receive affiliation with the Sanhedrin. He must have known full well that his message to the Sanhedrin would result in his death, which it most certainly did (Acts 7:54-60).

Just like in the early days of the Christian movement, shortly after Jesus’ ascension, false teachers are still the greatest threat to the Church today, that is, the people of God. False teachers come in all varieties, and in today’s age of instant digital communication, they have a clear path to anyone willing to listen to their lies and deceits. Jesus set aside His fiercest and most blistering condemnation for false prophets and false teachers. Jesus did this because these false teachers appeared to speak for God, but they represented Satan. They were, and still are today, exceptionally deceiving. Astonishingly, today’s Christian leaders are hesitant to confront cults and false religions, even though the falsity they are spreading across the land is contrary to the true gospel of Christ Jesus.

Today, in their attempt to fill the pews, some church leaders will compromise on the truth of the gospel, fearing that it might discourage some from attending services. The world loves its own and hates anything close to the truth and all people living by it. Darkness and light are two separate inanities and can never join themselves together. The light of Christ Jesus is eternal, and his faithful followers will share in His love and His reign through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and life eternal with Him. Let us all keep our eyes on the prize. One day Jesus is coming back just like He promised at His ascension, and all his faithful children will be with Him for eternity.
