Psalms 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.
July 4th is a day that we, as
a nation here in the United States, celebrate our freedom from an oppressive
hold on us from the King of England. It was not the day we received our
freedom; that only happened when British General Charles Cornwallis formally
surrendered 8,000 British soldiers and seamen to a French and American force at
Yorktown, Virginia, on February 25th, 1781, bringing the American Revolution to
a close.
Who is the God of our society
and our country? Indeed, our God is the Lord, Our Savior Christ Jesus. Whether
the people of any country realize it or not, there is only one God. However,
all nations do not worship Him as their God; too many replace the one true God
will worthless Idols. However, He will respond if we respond and humble ourselves
and seek Him and Him alone. Our country falls short of being one nation under
one God. However, we can pray for revival to sweep our nation and repent to God
for not holding Him up as first in our lives. God has promised that He will
respond if we humble ourselves and seek Him.
Everyone who knows Jesus as
their Lord and Savior has been born into the Family of God, regardless of their
country. It begins when we die to ourselves and our old life and enter the
second birth. To sincerely follow God's plan, we must know who we are. If we
have experienced the second birth, accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and
surrendered our lives to Him, heart, mind, and spirit. Body and soul, we are
then part of God's eternal family. We have a new Home in heaven that will never
deteriorate, and we will live eternally with the one that made it possible for
us to be there, our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. He has promised to respond
if we humble ourselves and seek him. Let's do that beginning today!
