Matthew 9:32-33 When the two men were leaving, some people brought another man to Jesus. This man could not talk because he had a demon in him. After Jesus forced the demon to leave the man, he was able to speak. The crowd was amazed and said, “We have never seen anything like this in Israel.”
Most people today assume that miracles are somehow in
conjunction with modern science. However, this is not the case; the benefits of
Christ Jesus are movements of God’s divine power. Moreover, Jesus performed
many miracles, as recorded in the Scriptures. The Bible, the Word of God, is without
error, and it would be an erroneous blunder to claim that these miracles are
historically inaccurate.
The Bible attests to the miracles and the fact is the
Bible is historically truthful and divinely trustworthy. This should make us
hesitant to reject miracles because they oppose current, earthly presumptions.
God performs these miracles as a part of His grander plan of salvation and
testified that His kingdom would usher in the climactic and definitive
salvation of all that follow Jesus. God had come in the person of Jesus, divine
Son and promised Messiah.
First, we must consider whether the miracles recorded in
the four Gospels occurred. Much uncertainty and disbelief concerning bible
miracles have cropped up in Western society. Skepticism exists in scholarly
circles, elite culture, and the broader culture. But the uncertainty is
principally a Western occurrence. Most folks in other parts of the world have
little or no problems because they already trust the spirit world. At least
part of the problem is the sway of a materialistic or naturalistic worldview.
This worldview claims the universe is an impersonal orderliness whose
fundamental persona is substance and energy in motion. Modern society leaves no
pathway for a personal God who cares about His children. Humanity gives no
chance to a loving God who wants to have a part in the lives of all
people.
One facet of experiencing the miracles of Christ Jesus is
to turn our backs and not accept the modern, materialistic viewpoint. We must
understand that God created the world we all live in and it is in His total
control. The daily occurrences we encounter are all part of His faithful
control over our planet. However, there will be times when God acts in
exceptional manners, and that is what we know as a miracle.
The sad part of all this is that there are billions of
people that simply do not accept that there is a God and He is in control of
what goes on in this world. He is not some form of a puppeteer that pulls all
our strings and makes us dance to His tune. We have freedom in Christ Jesus to
live a life surrendered to Him or we can dance to Satan’s evil form of
entertainment.
Galatians 5:13 My brothers and sisters, God called you to
be free, but do not use your freedom as an excuse to do what pleases your sinful
self. Serve each other with love.
