Psalm 119:14 I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.
Our treasure and our truth
stem from God's Word. Scripture is God's direction for us to elude Satan's
destructive traps and live a blessed life in God. Rather than viewing God's
Word as constraining and restricting, we must consider it His gift of love and
cherish it more favorably than gold and silver. Jesus cherishes His kingdom as
a valuable jewel. God will one day reestablish the nation of Israel, and
Christians will join Israel in the march for truth after Jesus returns. Jesus
loves all believers, fleshly or spiritual. He loves us based on His love and
not on our character. We are His treasure that He purchased with His blood.
Christ surrendered everything He had to purchase our salvation. As the owner,
He has the right of redemption. At Jesus' Second Coming, He will claim His
ownership over the believing remnant.
The gospel of Christ will
transform our lives if we only believe it. Peter preached a short sermon
recorded in the second chapter of Acts, and more than 3,000 people came to know
Christ as their Lord and Savior that day. The people listening to Peter that
day had come under great conviction because they were responsible for the
crucifixion of Christ Jesus. Peter did not preach that sermon on the Day of
Pentecost as the rabbis of that day usually sat down and gave instructions on
Jewish Law. Jesus had fulfilled the Law in His birth, life, death, and
resurrection. Peter just proclaimed what Jesus had taught for the past few
years.
Peter did not prepare for this
message days before spontaneously bringing forth this life-changing message.
Peter didn't leave bed that morning, realizing he would preach to thousands of
people that day. Furthermore, he was unaware that over three thousand would
accept Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior. However, it was the most
well-prepared sermon ever preached because the preparation had lasted for over
three years that he had followed Jesus wherever he went. Yet this was a
well-prepared sermon because of the preparation by Peter's prior life and
relationship with Jesus. It flowed spontaneously from life and from a mind that
sincerely knew and believed in Jesus.
The best message we can ever
preach is how we live our lives. We may not realize it, but when people find
out that we are a follower of Christ Jesus, they will keep a close eye on how
we live. What we say is less important than how we live; if we present
ourselves with the presence of the Holy Spirit, we will show Jesus in every
aspect of our lives.
