2 Timothy 1:9 He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,
God first thought of us eons before time as we know it
began, and we cannot even begin to comprehend when that time was. God thought
of us to show His eternal love, grace, and mercy. God's eternal plan had always
included Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary to pay a sin debt He knew we
could never pay. Jesus was always in God's plan, and we, as His children, were
always His goal. God saved us and called us to a life surrendered to Christ
Jesus because of His purpose and grace. God directed His gracious work towards
us when we only existed as a fact in God's knowledge. Just as a couple lovingly
plans for a baby before the baby is born, so God's plan included us as His
Children. Our gratitude should consist of thanks to God for thinking of our
needs long before life as we know it existed. The idea of before time begins
teaches us that God created and gave order to this present world we live in
before the concept of time began.
We come to God as a reaction to His call on our lives. We
did not initiate the search; God finds us, we do not find God. Consequently,
we must respond to His call on our lives. God's call on our lives has nothing
to do with any good works we could do; it was entirely for His intent and
purpose. God called us; it was not anything great or wonderful that we did. We
should never allow Satan to fool us into thinking that all we must do as God's
children is go to church on Sunday and put our Bibles on the shelf until next
week. We must not let Satan fool us into falsely turning us into Bible-toting
puppets that never even open God's Word and, more importantly, follow the
teaching of Christ. God desires that we all live on the wholesome and
nutritious milk of the gospel of Christ Jesus.
We can always depend on what God has already done for us
for our salvation. God has made it clear that He does not want us to perish.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one
and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal
life.
The outcome of our salvation should initiate the desire for
us to work. Jesus will always call us out on the battlefield but will furnish
us with the Shield of Faith and the only weapon we need: the Sword of the
Spirit, The Word of God. Satan does not fear us in the least; however, he is in
constant fear of the Word of God; he cannot stand before God's Word, he will
always flee (James 4:7). God will always call all His children out on the
highways and byways of life to spread His Gospel of truth to the ends of the
earth (Luke 14:13; Acts 1:8). The mission fields worldwide are white for the
harvest and there are many lost people out there that need the saving grace
that come only from our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. Let us all go and do our
part.
