Isaiah 1:16-17 Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.
To many Christians find it much easier to replace service
to people around us who are in need to rituals of religion. God’s desire for
all his people is not to fall into the trap of talking about Him and rejoicing
in His deeds so much that we do not remember that we are supposed to care for
and love others as He does. There is a higher calling than just living in God’s
will; we should learn to live to God’s will. The will of God is our career, our
central concern, His will is our passion.
Orientation to the will of God exalts us to a greater
spiritual level so that we don’t sink into monotonous cross words with others.
Arguments and hostilities are a way of life for those outside Christ, but not
for the one with a surrendered life to God. Christians living in the flesh
instead by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit will not be able to maintain a
life that will be pleasing in God’s sight. Living a life that pleases our Lord
and Savior will bring us to a central purpose described in Jesus’ conversation
with the rich young ruler (Matthew 19:16-21). Jesus’ final message to this
young man seeking eternal life was to forget about worldly riches, give to
those in need simply because they are in need, and surrender our lives to Him.
All we must do is pray to God and ask him to open our eyes to those in need.
Ask the Lord to help us live a life where people will see Jesus in our thoughts
and deeds.
It can become easy for some to major in the minors in their
walk with God. Habitually biased religion precedes the inconsequential and
ignores crucial principles of the Word of God. Religion is often meticulous
about trifling details but neglects the most critical parts of life. Too many
churches in this day in age are too focused on church attendance and how much
is coming in through the plates and have no passion for the lost souls in the
world and even in this own neighborhood (Micah 6:8). These verses are excellent
advice, not that it is easily accomplished, but will lead to a much fuller
Christian Life. Let us always strive to put the other person first in all
things, and there will be peace and contentment in our lives that can only come
through a total surrender to Christ Jesus and His gospel.
