Psalm 118:5-6 When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place. The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
As Christians, we will go through trying times and see our
friends and loved ones experiencing many trials and tribulations. Our God will
always be with us no matter how difficult the storms of life we encounter (23rd
Psalm). God's presence in our lives is imperative so we can stand with our
shield of Faith and repel the arrows of dissent that our enemy, Satan, slings
at us every day of our lives. Our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, longs to be
with us every heartbeat we are in this life. Jesus' heart desire is to be with
us, especially when we feel most alone. He told us that when He experienced
anguish alone on the Cross of Calvary. God is not only with us from a safe
distance, but Jesus also felt what it was like to be abandoned by His closest
friends and knew what it was like to experience forsakenness.
A lot is happening around us that we cannot see with our
physical eyes or even understand. A spiritual war rages between evil spirits
and heavenly forces; the battle is raging for the souls of humanity. It is a
battle between good and evil and between light and darkness. The Word of God
tells us that the Satanic and heavenly forces are engaged in warfare, and you
and I are in the middle of the battle.
Romans 8:35-38 Who
shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or
persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written “For
your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be
slaughtered.” through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death
nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the
future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else
in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Apostle Paul ended his life here on earth
with the assurance that he had fought the good fight (2 Timothy 4:7-8). There
is strength in numbers, especially people willing to suspend their differences
and unite in harmony, realizing that we all have a common enemy that hates
everything we stand for. Our enemy, Satan, especially hates God's most
incredible creation, humanity, and he will use every trick in the book to lure
us away from the truth of God's Holy Word. Our foe is formidable, and his
primary mission is to bring shame and discredit the mission of Christ Jesus.
As followers and believers in
Christ Jesus, we must sound the message of truth loud and clear to this lost,
dark, and dying world. God calls us as His followers and believers to engage
Satan in the spiritual warfare he brings against God's Church. If we expect to
be successful in this battle for the soul of humanity, we must have the proper
training. This training regimen includes daily Bible Study and prayer, meeting
with other soldiers in God's army for training sessions, such as Sunday school,
worship services, Bible Study meetings, and fellowshipping with other brothers
and sisters in Christ Jesus.
