Colossians 1:27-28 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.
Christ lives in His followers; he is with us until we can
go home to be with him. Everywhere we go and everything we do; he is in us. We
endeavor to have him fashioned more perfectly in us, not just live in us. Of
course, we can only accomplish this through his power and the gift of the Holy
Spirit! As Christians are transformed through the Holy Spirit, they contemplate
the glory that is Christ Jesus. Consequently, God displays that glory in the
believer in Christ Jesus.
The Holy Word of God is a mirror (James 1:23-25). When
people filled with sin read and study the Bible, they see the reflection of
their sinfulness. This work of God allows sinners to see the reflection of
Christ in comparison with their lives. A mirror only reflects what it sees; the
Word of God reflects who and what the Christian is. Furthermore, it uncovers
our spiritual inadequacies. God’s glory renovates followers of Jesus as we come
to grips with the recognition and blessedness of who He is and where we are in
our Christian walk. Conversion is more than trivial or insincere change. It is
an integral, mortal conversion of any person into the gradual likeness of
Jesus. There is no inferior replication here. It is a slow but sure development
of Christ’s glory in the Christian by God through the indwelling of His Holy
Spirit.
Christian development is a step-by-step process. This
procedure moves the Christian ever closer to the likeness of Christ, by
biblical experience, to the enormousness of Jesus and the work He did on the
Cross on our behalf. This spiritual growth is the development whereby Christ is
“molded” in the believer. The Bible has a sanitizing result as we read and study
it. God’s Word will change and alter all that read and study it daily. The Word
“transformed” from the Greek language comes our word metamorphosis. It is like
a caterpillar as it slowly changes into a butterfly. Spiritual growth changes
us toward spiritual maturity, remembering where we were and where we are now.
We will never achieve perfection in this life, but as we surrender to Christ
Jesus, we are moving forward to the day in the life to come when we will be
void of the sin that plagues us in this life.
It is possible to slow our Christian growth by disregarding
the Bible. That closes God’s mouth and stamps out knowing our Lord as we
should. Christ Jesus is the heart and soul of the Word of God. We forget that so
easily and quickly.
