Zechariah 14:9 The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name.
Christ Jesus teaches his followers and believers to pray
for the time that God will be the acknowledged King over the entire earth. As
His followers and believers, we look forward to when the whole earth will glory
in His name. In a world that lives in sacrilege and blasphemy, every knee will
bow, and every person will confess that He is not just the King of Kings, but
there is no rival. He is the only one worthy of reverence, honor, and praise.
There will come a day when Jesus asserts His sovereignty
over the world. One day, when the world's people are going along with their
everyday lives, Jesus will declare Himself as the King of all Kings. God is not
currently affirming His rights in the world that we know today. He does not
judge humanity according to His Laws and His way; however, the day that will
end is imminent.
Today, we are strangers in a foreign land (Psalm 119:19);
our citizenship is not on this earth; God has reserved it in heaven for all
that count Jesus as their Lord and Savior. People believe they are in charge
and that everything that happens is under human control. As followers and
believers, we are not marching to the beat of the human drum; we know God is in
control, contrary to popular belief.
As followers and believers in Christ Jesus, we are under
the Great Commission; that is not an option we can choose to follow. As God's
children, He expects us to carry the gospel to the lost souls of this world.
The great commission is a great commandment. Our mission as followers and
believers in Christ Jesus is not just conversation but also edification. Teaching
is the neglected dimension of the Great Commission today. Churches are afraid
to proclaim the propositions of Scripture. They deem people in our day too
media-oriented to listen to the exposition of Scripture. That is only true if
people are not passionate about God's Word. The only way the world's people
will ever experience the passion of God's Word is if we, as His followers and
believers, allow the world to see our passion connected to God's Word.
Our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, has committed Himself to
be with all willing to share the Great Commission, His gospel, until He returns
to this earth. Along with this commitment comes the power that all who share
the gospel will need to tell the lost of this world about the only way to
eternal life (John 14:6). This assurance means that we do not have to be timid
in carrying the gospel to the ends of the earth (Hebrews 13:5).
