Amos 5:14-15 Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is. Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the court. Perhaps the Lord God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.
There are untold millions of people around the globe who
assert that God is on their side. The more crucial aspect of this dilemma is:
Are we on God's side? God's heart desire is to be close to His children.
However, He does not forget His character to bestow an inferior grace on the
world's inhabitants, a grace that in no way calls on His followers to seek to
be like Him. Of course, there is no way we will ever achieve that goal in this
life, but God expects us to strive in that direction as we live our lives for
Him. God's righteousness is far beyond anything that will ever be in our grasp
in this life. The best we will ever accomplish here on this earth will fall far
short of God's holiness. However, we should always strive to be close to God
and spread His message of love, grace, and mercy to all parts of the earth.
The farther away from God we drift, the easier time Satan
will have in gaining control of our lives. When we allow Satan to have a toe
hold in our lives, it will not be long until he has a foothold, leading to his
complete control of our daily walks. When Satan begins to gain control of our
daily lives, it will not be long before the material aspects of this life will
seem more important than the spiritual aspect of our lives. Jesus' desire for
all His followers and believers is to focus our lives on the more significant
issue of His eternal kingdom. We should always strive to prioritize the things
in life that are of more excellent value. There is a principle in life known as
the displacement theory, in that the more of one value we fill our hearts and
souls with will reflect the new values because the power of the new value will
flush away the old value.
If we genuinely want to find God, we can achieve that goal
simply by opening our hearts, souls, minds, and spirits to see Him in the
creation of this world. Many views a miracle from God as a coincidence, which
is how Satan would have us see the great things that come from God. The last
thing Satan wants is for anyone to start believing that God can provide for our
every need and will always be there to guide our every step.
There are only two possibilities for having a heart for
God: a negative or a positive preference to know Him and a genuine desire to
serve him by surrendering our lives, hearts, minds, bodies, and souls to Him.
God will provide eternal life in heaven to all who measure up to His unconditional
righteousness. However, not one person who has ever drawn breath on God's green
earth will ever be able to accomplish that elusive goal. None of us can receive
justification for our works and deeds because none of us will ever be able to
live up to the perfect nature of God. That is why God sent His only begotten
Son to live a perfect life that we could never live and then offer Himself as a
living sacrifice for our sins (John 3:16).
