John 1:16 Out
of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given.
People sometimes chronicle their boring lives by
saying that today was just like yesterday, that was just like the day before.
Life serves a fare of some of the identical problems as the ones we have
already experienced for days and days back. It could be best described by
having to eat what was left over from one meal every day for the rest of the
week, only camouflaged as a different food.
The world that
our Savior, Christ Jesus, entered was a dull, troubled-filled place of
existence. In the Gospel, as recorded by the Apostle John, Jesus supplies us
with "Grace in place of Grace." In other words, the Grace God gave us
yesterday will be replaced with a new Grace for today.
When you stand on
the banks of a river and observe the water as it flows down the river, you
realize that the water you see is still water, but not the same. The old water
has already passed, and you are always looking at "New Water" even
though it seems the same. We can apply this same illustration to God's Grace;
just like the new "water in place of water," we are constantly
experiencing new Grace, "Grace in place of Grace."
Like the
continuous and never-ending surf that touches the world's seashores, the new
Grace always replaces the old Grace, which is eternal. More Grace will replace
the Grace we receive at any moment with the passing of every heartbeat. God's
Grace comes to us in uninterrupted and continual waves; we receive Grace, and
more Grace arrives, followed by more Grace, which never ends. Followers and
believers in Christ Jesus will consistently receive God's Grace. There is no
limit nor end to the Grace of God showered upon His children.
So, we should
remember that even though we may still experience yesterday's problems today,
the Grace of God is always new and refreshing. Just like the river will always
supply fresh water, God will always give us new Grace; it is never-ending. God
will always provide us with specific Grace for each valley or hardship.
Once we receive
grace from God, He replaces that grace with more grace. He gives some grace
only to replace it with some more grace. We constantly receive God's grace as
followers and believers in Christ Jesus. His grace comes in continuous waves in
our direction and in more significant quantities. God always gives His children
grace in the place of grace. We receive a wave of grace, and another arrives.
There is no ceiling to God’s grace for us.
