Romans 9:5 Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised!
From the beginning, Israel was God's chosen people and the
only people who had a covenant relationship with Him. The Jewish people proudly
celebrated this truth from when God chose Abraham to relocate to the land God
promised him and his ancestors. However, when the true promised Messiah did
come to the earth, they denied Christ Jesus as the Messiah. God then delayed
His kingdom agenda with His chosen people until they acknowledged Christ Jesus
as the true promised Messiah. God has taken from amongst the Gentile people
surrendered souls to represent Him here in the interim through His grace and
mercy. For over two millennia, God has taken from the Gentiles, a people that
represent His name. During this long period, the Church has been God's
ambassador to unsaved Jews and Gentiles alike.
The matter has come up over the years concerning whether
God has finished with His people, Israel. The dilemma is: has God finished with
the Jewish people, and are they no longer His chosen people? Some falsely
believe that the Church replaces Israel; however, Paul clears up that issue in
chapters 9-11 of the Book of Romans. Paul's objective in the writings mentioned
above is to educate the Body of Christ so that we might not fall into Satan's
trap of "Replacement Theology" that many false teachers are advocating
today. God's Church has undoubtedly not replaced Israel, and God has one plan
and timetable for Israel and another for His Church on the earth.
It is as clear as Church bells ringing out on a crisp
spring morning that God told His chosen people, Israel, that they will not see
Him until the day that they cry out, "Blessed is He who comes in the name
of the Lord," fulfilling the prophecy of Psalms 118. The Children of
Israel did this during Jesus' "Triumphal Entry" into Jerusalem but
then cried out for Him to be crucified. There will be a day when God's purpose
for the Church will conclude, and He will rapture those who have accepted Him
as the true Messiah from this earth. All that the precious blood of Christ
Jesus has saved will go to be with the Lord and will be with Him for eternity
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
Israel gave us the great fathers of the Old Testament, and
Jesus Himself came from Israel. This entire spiritual inheritance makes
Israel's unbelief even more challenging to comprehend. This biblical truth is a
clean and unambiguous statement from Pail that Jesus was, in fact, God in the
flesh. When one digs deep into this chapter, it might seem like Paul was down
on the Jewish people. However, it is quite the contrary; he did not pull any
punches with the Hebrews but told them the truth as God had bestowed upon him.
However, they rejected him and the truth of God's Word he presented to them.
God could have stepped in and made them become believers; however, He doesn't work that way. He doesn't "make" anyone accept Him as their Lord and Savior. However, not one poor soul in hell can declare that it is God's fault they are there.
