Hebrews
10:21-22 and since we have a great priest over the house
of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the
full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse
us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
The House of God has
many faces, home Churches, small community churches, larger rural Churches, some
huge city churches as well as some newer theater-style churches with many
thousands of members.
God has a house that
is not a brick-and-mortar building; it is an invisible, worldwide home for all
that are seeking the love, grace, and mercy that comes only from our Lord and
Savior, Christ Jesus (John 14:2). If a person is a born again, washed in the
blood saved believer in Christ Jesus, it indicates that at some point the Holy
Spirit has issued an invitation that person has responded to and accepted the
call. As indicated in the verse of the day (Hebrews 10:21-22), the very
heartbeat a person shows up at the doorsteps of God's house, in any form, the
"High Priest" Jesus Christ warmly welcomes that person to come and be
part of the family of God.
The problem arises
when someone lingers in the lobbies and vestibules of God's house, coming in
but not entering the inner sanctuary where Jesus dwells. God's greatest desire
is that all people entering His house join Him at the banquet table where we
can dine with the one that made it possible for us to be there. When we decide
to remain at the fringes of God's house, we will miss out on the richness of
the Lord's blessing for us. The tragedy is that too many Christians choose to
remain on the perimeters, never enjoying the sumptuousness and splendor of a
life surrendered to Christ Jesus.
As followers and
believers in Christ Jesus, we have been sprinkled with His precious blood to
cover our sins. Furthermore, the child of God in Christ Jesus enjoys freedom
from an accusing spirit, the evil one, Satan. The true surrendered believer in
Christ comes to the throne of God unstained and presentable to stand before the
creator of all in heaven and all on earth. Consequently, we can approach God's
throne with a clean heart, not because of anything we have done but because of
the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary.
Whatever your
decision, do not linger in the fringes, the lobbies of God's house; come into
the beauty of the sanctuary where the Savior of the world is waiting to bestow
blessings on all His children that our human minds could never even imagine.
The High Priest of God's house stands in the doorway with open, welcoming arms
biding all to come closer. He is telling everyone that there is always an empty
place on the pews for a surrendered child of God.
