From the pen of Linda Shortt
As
we have already begun another year and made numerous New Years resolutions, let’s
take a step back and think of the resolutions we made last year. I’m sure that
among them we will find things like; eat healthier, spend less money, spend less
time in front of the TV, TikTok, cell phone games and video games, visit family
more and overall being a better human being to others. Although these are all
good, I’m sure that most of us have fallen short of carrying out our
resolutions.
We
find that there’s not enough time in the day to do want we would like to do. We
are busy with jobs, household chores, children, grandchildren, church activities,
etc. The list is endless to keep us away from what we want to do. We all have responsibilities,
and we just get busy with life and doing the best we can do from day to day.
We should not feel like a
failure if we cannot keep those well intended resolutions. Gods word tells us in
James 4:14
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow.
For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appears for a
little time, and then vanishes away. (KJV)
We are not promised tomorrow,
we have today. Goals and resolutions are great, it gives us something to shoot
for, something to look forward to achieving. However, we cannot dwell on the
failures of not accomplishing these goals. We must live each day as it comes.
With the help of the Lord, we can do many things each day. We must live from
day to day and do the best we can do with what the Lord has given us.
Maybe we should reevaluate our
New Years resolutions for this year and be more realistic in what we are
wanting to achieve. This would definitely cut our stress levels in half or
more. Life is way too short to waste time on frivolous things. I’m determined
to use the time I have left to savor every day and enjoy what comes my way. May
the Lord bless you with another day and when you wake up you thank Him for the
new day He has given.
