Kings 7:9 Then
they said to each other, “What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news,
and we are keeping it to ourselves. If we wait until daylight, punishment will
overtake us. Let’s go at once and report this to the royal palace.”
There are many occasions in
everyone's life that we want to share some good news with the special people in
our lives. The day we met our husbands or wives or the day our children were
born. However, the most special day was the hour we accepted Christ Jesus as
our Lord and Savior. We wanted to share the good news of our salvation with
everyone we encounter and tell them about the saving grace of Christ Jesus.
Each of us has these types of
moments in our lives. More than just the exciting life moments, we all have
times when God has done something for us. Perhaps it was salvation, maybe it
was healing, or maybe it was a time when He drew close to us in a time of need.
Those are highlights of our lives, but are we sharing that with others?
It's a great and wonderful day
when God does something special in our lives. Our verse shares it's a day of
"good news." We shouldn't keep that excellent news to ourselves.
Instead, we should share the good news of the gospel of Christ Jesus with all
we meet. We should tell others what God has done for us and continues to do in
our lives. Don't let a moment to spread the gospel's good news with others
escape you.
Throughout our world, some
Christian brothers and sisters need encouragement and strength that only the
Word of God can provide. We should focus on helping people find encouragement,
develop stronger connections with God, and help non-Christians surrender their
hearts and souls to Christ Jesus and accept Him as their personal Lord and
Savior. God's Word does not teach the doctrine of restricted privacy of each
person; mutual exchange of interest with other people is a Christian value. The
term "other people" is a poignant word for most people in the
twenty-first century. The worldly term "first come, first served" is
far from a Christian value in this century or at any time. The true Child of
God will always find a place in their lives for other people. The questions
before us today are: How wide is our circle of friends? How large is the circle
of prayers in our Christian walk?
An indication of spiritual
maturity is when we are less concerned about ourselves in prayer. Do we view
life from the viewpoint of other people? Are we genuinely concerned about those
who do not know Christ? Sharing Christ includes the interests of others. Since
Christ Jesus considered no sacrifice too great, unbearable, or excruciating,
shouldn't we have a sacrificial attitude for those in our lives, other brothers
and sisters in Christ, and the lost souls in our circles of influence?
