Isaiah 43:25 I, even I, am he who blots out your
transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.
God does make it possible to restart things and get them
right. When we accept salvation through Christ, we become entirely new
creations! The old has passed away, and all is new. Only He can make this
possible. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, the apostle Paul wrote, "Therefore, if
anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come, the old has gone, the new is
here!" That is excellent news; if we are in Christ Jesus, the old person
has died, and we are a new creation. In Christ, we are new beings under the
leadership and direction of the Holy Spirit, who leads, guides, and directs our
every step.
To be the new creation God desires, we must be "in
Christ." The phrase "in Christ" or "in Christ Jesus"
refers to the state of believers. If you are a born again, washed in the blood,
follower and believe, then you are in Christ! If you have asked God to forgive
your sins and professed your faith and decision to follow Jesus with your life,
you have experienced salvation. Paul uses this phrase frequently to speak of
the believer's spiritual relationship with Jesus.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in
Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is
here!
Believing in Jesus is the reason we stand before God
justified despite our sins. As Christians, we have neither earned nor deserve
eternal life with God and the forgiveness of our sins, though we have both.
That's the grace of God. We have them because of Christ and what He did for us.
When we answer the calling of God, He adopts us into His
family. The blood of Jesus covers our sins! Paul tells us in his letter to the
Church in Galatia (Galatians 3:28) that we become one in Christ Jesus, brothers,
and sisters in the faith. If a person truly believes, he or she will repent,
resulting in reconciliation with God. Our relationship with Him changes; it is
entirely new. We no longer look at life the same way as before our salvation.
Now, we view everything from the eternal perspective of God, His Word, and His
Kingdom. We no longer look upon other people or our lives as before conversion.
Our motives change, our thoughts change, our actions change, and our characters
change. We now seek to serve and please God in all we do. Serving God will be
our highest priority in life, and those we encounter will notice that. We will
be more vital witnesses to the Lord.
Satan tries to keep us from knowing we have experienced
salvation by reminding us of the sins we committed, attempting to make us feel
guilty. He could say something like, "Remember when you did that thing
that the Bible says is evil? Nobody can forgive you for that. It wasn't
something Christ would do, so God doesn't want you anymore." When Satan
tries this ruse, we need to remind him that the old had passed away when we
came to God. We have been justified and made righteous through the blood of
Jesus by the grace of God.
