Amos 5:14-15 Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is.
Many people will say that God is
on their side. The more serious question is whether we are on God's side. We
solve that dilemma by the things we do rather than what we believe or say. Our
heavenly father longs to be with us every step we take. However, God will not
sacrifice His character to extend to us false grace, which fails to call us to
be like Him. We will never see that goal accomplished in this life, but we must
strive for that aspiration every day. He allows us to draw breath in this life.
God is seeking followers and believers who put their character where their talk
is.
Many people have a "faith in
Jesus" that impacts no other part of their lives. It's a private
compartment of their lives that impacts where they are on Sunday at 11 and
where they believe they are going after they die, but not much else. It doesn't
affect how they treat people or spend their money. It doesn't affect what they
watch on TV or how they act around worldly people. When we put our faith and
trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior and give up trying to lead our own lives
by establishing our worth and surrendering our hearts to Christ, we are on the
path to salvation.
When we do our weekly grocery
shopping, sometimes we use our bank cards or credit cards. However, when we
click the card, we must pay the card issuers back every dollar and cent. Some
may find it challenging to comprehend, but there is a freely given redeemable
credit that any child of God can utilize to enter the gates of heaven. This
most valuable exchangeable credit is only some of the good deeds one might
accomplish in this life. It is not living an admirable or praiseworthy life;
this is not to say those things are unimportant. These good works and deeds are
beautiful in God's eyes, mainly when we use them to help those in need.
Jesus shed His innocent blood on
the Cross of Calvary to pay for your sins and my sins. Sadly, there will be
many who never see the bright SON light of heaven. The only other option is
separation from God for eternity, which is an awful, lonely, and dark place
called hell. When we put our faith and trust in Christ Jesus as our Savior and
Lord and give up trying to lead our own life by establishing our personal worth
but surrender our hearts to Christ, we will move down the path to salvation. If
we trust Jesus for our salvation, God's righteousness will receive its deserved
glorification, and we will receive our underserved justification.
