Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
The salvation we know by grace through faith in Christ
opens the door to many blessings for every follower and believer in Christ
Jesus. Sometimes, we need to be more mindful of the lavish blessings that have
become ours at the heartbeat of our salvation, and for many people, it takes
time to become aware of all the gifts of grace God has abundantly bequeathed
upon us in Christ Jesus. One of the countless critical gifts of God's grace to
all surrendered followers is that we are justified, made right with God, and
have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul's consistent discourse through the beginning chapters
of the letter to the Roman Christians leaves no question that we are all
sinners and at enmity with God. Sin is what separates us from God, and God's
wrath is on all people because we are all sinners (Romans 3:23). We are all
guilty before God and, therefore, eternally separated from our Creator and all
that is good because the wage of sin is death (Romans 6:23a) But accompanying
this destructive knowledge is a magnificent truth that the gift God offers us
is eternal life, through Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23b).
God justifies us by faith, we become righteous by faith,
and we receive peace with God through faith, which indicates that instead of
living in enmity with God because of our sins, we have peace with God through
our faith in Jesus. We are no longer separated from God eternally because of
our sins. Still, we are in eternal harmony with Him because we accepted Christ
Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and buried the old person. A new person is walking
in a newness of life with a new life here on this earth and for eternity with
God in a beautiful place called heaven.
Every person who has accepted the gift of salvation through
the shed blood of Christ has peace with God from the moment of salvation and
continues for the whole of their life. However, the peace of God is a state
that can change throughout a believer's life. It depends on actively walking in
the Spirit and placing their trust in God, moment by moment.
The Apostle Paul tells us how we can experience this
wonderful peace of God.
Philippians 4:7 And
the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Isaiah also gives us some insight to experiencing the peace
of God that goes beyond any earthly explanation.
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in
perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
