Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
The benefits we, as followers
and believers in Christ Jesus, receive through our justification of Christ
Jesus are innumerable and uncountable. It would benefit all Christians to slow
our lives down and consider what we have in Christ. Some may pity those without
the blessings of the Gospel of Christ; however, instead of feeling sorry for
the lost souls of this world, we should spread the good news of the gospel to
this lost, dark, and dying world.
It helps one understand the
harmony, freedom, and peace enjoyed by those who have divine favor through the
justification given to the repentant. Paul urges us to appropriate all our
benefits through our justification in Christ, so we do not receive God's grace
in vain. The only clear avenue we have in becoming right with God is placing
our total faith and trust in the sacrificial work of Jesus made on our behalf
on the Hill of Calvary. We will never stand before our Heavenly Father through
any good works or deeds we might accomplish in this life. There is no way that
God will count our meager actions as good enough for us to gain eternal life.
We will never be able to stand before God, hoping our good deeds will outweigh
our bad ones. There are no works or deeds that will come anywhere close to
satisfying the perfect holiness of God.
Our only hope of being found
right with God is our total and complete faith in Jesus and his sacrifice on
Calvary's Cross to atone for our sins. We cannot stand right before God by our
works because our efforts do not measure up to God's perfect holiness. Christ's
death wipes our slate clean with absolute forgiveness, and justification
declares us as right with God forever. We must ask the Lord to help us find
ways to use our privileges of peace, grace, character, endurance, joy, hope,
salvation, and love for His greater glory. Let us not waste any of our
advantages.
Our salvation by God's grace
and our faith in Jesus opens many doors to beautiful blessings for all who keep
their faith and trust in Christ. There are times that many of us seem unaware
of the lavish, plentiful blessings that became ours at the heartbeat of our
accepting Christ as our Lord and Savior. Unquestionably, without any doubt, the
greatest gift bestowed upon the believer at the heartbeat of salvation is that
all that accept Christ as their Lord and Savior are made right with God and are
at peace with God.
Sometimes, we are unaware of
the lavish, plentiful blessings God has bestowed upon us at the point of our
salvation. For many people, it takes some time to become mindful of all the
gifts of grace that God has abundantly bestowed upon us in Christ Jesus.
Paul's judicious thesis throughout the early chapters of the letter to the Romans leaves no doubt that we are all sinners and at enmity with God. Sin separates us from God, and His wrath is on everything sinful, including sinners. We are guilty before God and, therefore, eternally separated from our Creator and all that is good, for the wages of sin is death. But along with this distressing knowledge is the magnificent truth that God's gift to all who surrender totally and ultimately to Christ Jesus is eternal life.
