1 Corinthians 4:1-2 This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.
We can
discover the world's analysis of faithfulness by visiting a greeting card
website. One reads, "I May not be able to commit to you forever, but
I can promise you today." That reflects the shallowness of commitment many
people are willing to make today. When faithfulness comes into view, there is
one thing that we can always depend on, and that is God is always faithful. God
will never leave or forsake us, turn his back on us, or abandon us. God
will never take advantage or treat us unkindly; his faithfulness is eternal.
There is a world of difference in the definition of faithfulness in the world
and in the Word of God. Google defines faith as "the quality of being
faithful," while the bible says: "steadfast loyalty that isn't easily
swayed." Our faithfulness to God means trusting in Him and loving Him
through all circumstances. It means following His commandments even when our
human nature tells us to choose a different path.
Faithfulness is love that never gives
up, no matter how rough and rocky our paths become. Faithfulness is not a love
that shows up and disappears the next day. Godly faithfulness is living a life
of constant dependability; the superglue of the soul will never give up, no
matter how rough and rocky our paths become.
Jesus
lived His life with steadfast and unswerving commitment and faithfulness. He
never quit when his path became difficult to navigate; his love for us was
steadfast and sincere. Jesus remained faithful to His commitment regardless of
the cost; he loved us to death and beyond! Not only did Jesus go to the Cross
to give His life for our sins, but He was also resurrected to life so that we
might be able to be with Him for eternity. Jesus' faithfulness continues to
this day and will never die or fade away.
We
need a foundational resolve that will never abandon the truth. Opinions and
values may vary, but the fact remains the same: What is valid for one is true
for all. The world wants us to believe there is no absolute, solid truth.
Matthew
6:19-20 Do not
store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin
destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for
yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and
where thieves do not break in and steal.
