Psalm 107:2 Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story; those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,
When we are driving on the massive interstate highway system in our country, we sometimes see certain areas that has a sign that reads “authorized vehicles only.” The area past the sign is off limits to all but authorized vehicles, law enforcement, emergency vehicles, state maintenance trucks and other equipment. It is common knowledge that if we drive past the signs we could be ticketed and charged with a traffic violation. If our cars or trucks have all the proper legal qualifications, current inspection stickers, up-to-date state licenses plates and city stickers we are authorized to travel on the public lanes of the highway. However, that does not allow us to enter the “authorized vehicles only” sections.
I do not know what might allow me to enter these restricted areas on the interstate highways, but I do know what this verse means when it states:” Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story.” The command from God is that all of us that have accepted the sacrifice of Christ Jesus on the Cross and surrendered our lives to Him have also committed to spread His gospel to the ends of the earth. This has nothing to do with anything we have done or for that matter anything that we could do now or anytime in the future that we are still walking on God’s green earth.
Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
Sadly, there will be many that stand before the Lord with their many accomplishments along with the pride of all the great things they have accomplished in the name of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and, in your name, perform many miracles?’
Sadly, when these sincere but mistake people come with their credentials in hand, Lord I served as a pastor or a missionary for many years, gave generously to my church and other mission projects my church supported, I taught a Sunday school class, served in our youth group and I was always there when there was a building or maintenance project to be accomplished.
Matthew 7:23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Only by the grace of God are we saved, in and through Christ Jesus and His gracious sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary. Jesus is not only the way, the truth, and the life, He in the only way to eternal life (John 14:6).
If you examine our heart, are you authorized? Have you accepted Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior so you can tell the world you are one of His children? If you are, praise him today. Let the world know you have been redeemed! If you are not, today would be a great day to accept Jesus as your Savior.
