1 Corinthians 15:19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.
A man once had been in a coma for several years but awoke
one day unexpectedly. The medical staff at the nursing home where he was
staying decided to do some dental work on him while he was in a comatose state.
For some unknown reason, the medical team decided to give him an intravenous
injection of Valium. When the drug took effect, the man woke up like someone
raised from the dead. It was a fantastic occurrence for his family and the
doctors and nurses working on him that day, and one they will never forget.
There have always been people who believe in the
resurrection of the dead and those who do not. There is little to say to those
who don't believe in it. They are materialistically minded: they only care for
life here on earth, which is the end. But those who say they believe in the
resurrection can surely be subdivided into two groups: those who subscribe to
this teaching but are at a loss how to live with it, and those to whom their
faith in the resurrection is so meaningful that they base their entire life on
earth around it.
Faith in God is not about theories but about daily
practice. Many people believe in resurrection theoretically, but few live
encouraged by it. This is the primary reason many Christians live a life of
defeat rather than the victorious life God intends for all his children. Too
many people in the world today have created a worldly version of Jesus to
satisfy their religious needs, upholding their personal worldly chosen goals in
life.
The resurrection of Christ was not without suffering;
likewise, our journey of faith may involve various trials and tribulations. But
just as Christ overcame death and rose again, we too can overcome our trials
through the power of the resurrection. When we persevere in faith, we are
manifesting the message of resurrection. We are showing the world that our hope
is not in this world but in the risen Christ. We are showing the world that our
strength is not in ourselves but in the power of God's grace.
Jesus was not a prophet waiting for the final resurrection;
He was the resurrection, the resurrected one, He is the living resurrection.
The power of resurrection rests in His person. Temporary separation between the
soul and body in death will not interrupt everlasting life that began at the
point of belief.
John 11:25 “I am the resurrection
and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
