Joshua 5:12 The manna stopped the day after they ate
this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but
that year they ate the produce of Canaan.
Israel’s exhausted wanderings
were over; the rest that God had promised them in their land had come, and
their days of setting up and breaking down tents had ended. They had seen the
last ferocious and violent Amalekites and open and endless wilderness. They
came to the land God promised them, which flowed with milk and honey. They had
arrived in their own country, protected by God.
If our faith remains active, the
prospects of a life with love, joy, and happiness will lead to an unalloyed
delight. Our daily walk with Jesus will yield a hope that the world cannot
experience or comprehend. Rejection of the love and grace of Christ Jesus will
keep us as followers and believers shuddering on the wrong side of the Jordan.
Let us banish every fearful thought and rejoice with great joy that we will be
forever with the Lord.
The Holy Spirit is the heartfelt
of our spiritual birthright; he gives us glory from above. In heaven, we are
secure, and so are we sustained in this life by Christ Jesus; there, we triumph
over our enemies and over sin and death.
Maybe this is the year that we
choose to settle down in the spiritual land promised to us by God when we turn
our backs on the world and settle in the land of milk and honey, that He has
promised all that accept him as their Lord and Savior. The prospect of living
in total surrender to the Lord will yield undiminished joy and delight.
Unbelief and rejection of the many blessings, hope, and happiness God has in
store for all that come to Him will cause us to shudder on the wrong side of
Jordan. Seeking worldly pleasures and carnal desires will create a barrier
between the many gifts and blessings God desires to give and the recipient.
