Bible Verse of the Day Saturday December 26th 2020

Safe and Secure in the Arms of Jesus  Part  1

1 John 5:11-13 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Many people that are unsure of their salvation say, "Oh, God, at last in heaven, I can be sure of my salvation!" If we want to know for sure, 100% that heaven is our home, we will have to get saved right here right now! This doubtfulness would be a clear indication that this person does not know for sure that he or she has been saved or not and that heaven is their home. Others have prayed continuously in anguish and torment, "Dear Jesus, please hold on to me until the end." An image comes to mind of someone in a life and death struggle, attempting to hold on to God on their own, and if somehow, they let go, they are Hell bound.

If you let him, Satan will lead you to a few verses taken out of context that suggest that a person can somehow lose their salvation.

John 10:27-30 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.  I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.  My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all,l no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand.  I and the Father are one."

The truth of the Holy Word of God, in its entirety, is that we are not and cannot hold on to God to remain saved; we do not have the power or ability to do so. GOD IS HOLDING ON TO US!!

In our text verse this morning, we see 1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

We either have eternal life, or we do not have it - RIGHT NOW! We either have JESUS right now, or we do not have Jesus! That is the beautiful part about this glorious gift of eternal life; it is either one or the other; through His Holy Word, we know where we stand with God.

There are millions of people today that are living in confusion. They will tell you about a glorious time that they were baptized, with all of their family in attendance, and joined the church. However, they do not have a testimony of a personal encounter with the Lord Christ Jesus; they do not have a Damascus Road experience. If you have not had that personal encounter with Christ Jesus, a time that you have, with all of your heart, mind, body, spirit, and soul, ask Jesus to come into your life, do it today, do not wait until tomorrow, because tomorrow may never come.

Some say that if you cannot lose your salvation, you could get saved and then live a worldly life, seeking material things, fame, fortune, gold, and silver, and still spend eternity with God in heaven. Nothing could be further from the truth. When we have had our Damascus Road experience, when our souls have intertwined with Christ Jesus, it will be an experience that will go into eternity with us. Once that happens, and we ask Christ Jesus to come and live in our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls, the Holy Spirit of God will take up permanent residence in our lives. Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior, suffered and died on the Cross of Calvary, shed His perfect, sinless, innocent blood to cover our sins.
