Galatians 3:25-29 Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian. So, in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
God is the Father of all people but only the ones that have surrendered their lives to Christ Jesus are His true children. Our lives are being controlled by Christ Jesus, through the leading and direction of His Holy Spirit, or Satan's evil direction is leading us. Contrary to popular belief, we cannot do it "our way," no human has the power to fight against Satan; the only force in the universe strong enough to overcome Satan's evil is Christ Jesus. Once we become "children of God," God will break the bonds that Satan has over us, and we shall be free from sin and Satan. Not that we will not ever sin (Romans 3:23; 3:10), but that we are free not to sin. This truth is what will set us free (John 8:32)
Paul teaches us here that all that have put their
faith and trust in Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior have been
"baptized into Christ." The Apostle is not speaking of "water
Baptism," or is this a statement that says that baptism is a prerequisite
for our salvation. This is to say that we have been crucified, buried, and
resurrected with Christ Jesus at the very first heartbeat of our salvation.
Consequently, we then have become a new creation in Christ Jesus.
Paul said that at this moment of salvation, you have
"clothed yourselves with Christ." In a worldly sense, we dress for
whatever occasion that might arise. As children of God the appropriate clothing
for each day should be to "clothe ourselves with Christ." The ones
around us should see that we belong to Christ Jesus by looking at how we live.
We should always be aware that we are adorned with Christ because the baptism
spoken of here by Paul is the baptism of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
This is a logical outcome of the Galatians, and all
of God's children that have clothed themselves with Christ. God views all the
same; He sees no difference between any of His children, race, servitude, or
gender we are all one in Christ Jesus, the real us is not the flesh we see with
our eyes, but the spirit that dwells within the body (John
17:21).
And it's through this process of spiritual growth
carried out by God that we can live our lives for Christ. Through the process
of sanctification, we can carry out our lives as children of God. Through the
indwelling of the Holy Spirit, we have the power of God in our lives to live in
Christ Jesus our Lord.
Paul concludes this chapter with further
clarification on our new family status. Because we are in Christ through faith,
we are now part of the promise given to Abraham. Consequently, we are not only
children of God but joint-heirs with Christ in the kingdom of God. And through
faith we become children of Abraham participating in the promises given to him
by God.
