Bible Verse of the Day Sunday April 25th 2021

1 Thessalonians 2:13 And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.

In this writing to the Christians at Thessalonica, Paul is giving thanks to God that they accepted His message as a revelation from God. The Apostle also points out that because they accepted the Word of God as the truth, it is at work in their lives. The key element in this verse of scripture is that Paul thanked God continually, which we see in other writings of Paul (2 Timothy 1:3; Romans 1:9; 1 Thessalonians 5:17). Consistent prayer is crucial to the success of any ministry. Many people pray sometimes; some have sporadic prayer lives. Those that are a part of any dynamic ministry pray “without ceasing” for the brothers and sisters to whom they minister.

The follower and believer in Christ Jesus must comprehend the truth of the Word of God and appreciate and treasure its message. If we do not understand the message that God is sending our way in and through His Word, we will not be able to apply it to our lives. If we fail to apply the truth of God’s Word to our personal lives our ministry for Christ Jesus will be on shifting sand (Job 23:12; Matthew 4:4). The full life of any Christian is more than just listening to Bible teaching for a couple hours a week.

There is only one way we can be confident that someone is teaching the truth of the Word of God and that is to compare what they are teaching to the Bible. We will find no contradictions in the Holy Word of God. If there is any inconsistency between God's Word and what you hear from a teacher, reject it. The truth of the Word of God continuously and consistently applied to every situation we go through in life alters our hearts for good. When we accept the Bible as God’s true Word, it will strengthen and motivate us to live forcefully far past what our worldly powers would permit us to do.
