Bible Verse of the Day Saturday April 17th 2021

Galatians 3:26-29 So, in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.

“Children of God”: While God is the Father of all people in a general sense because He created them (Acts 17:24-28), only those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ are God’s true spiritual children. Unbelievers are the children of Satan (Matthew 13:38; John 8:38, 41, 44; Acts 13:10; 1 John 3:10; Eph. 2:3; 1 John 5:19). Our lives are being controlled by Christ Jesus through the leading and direction of His Holy Spirit, or we are being led by the evil direction of Satan. Contrary to popular belief, we cannot do it “our way,” no human has the power to fight against Satan; the only power in the universe strong enough to overcome the evil of Satan is Christ Jesus. Once we become “children of God,” God will break the bonds that Satan has over us, and we shall be free from sin and Satan. Not that we will not ever sin (Romans 3:23; 3:10), but that we are free not to sin. This truth is what will set us free (John 8:32)

Paul teaches us that all who have put their faith and trust in Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior have been “baptized into Christ.” The Apostle is not speaking of “water Baptism,” or is this a statement that says that baptism is a prerequisite for our salvation. This is to say that we have been crucified, buried and resurrected with Christ Jesus at the very first heartbeat of salvation. Consequently, we then have become a new creation in Christ Jesus.

Paul said that at this moment of salvation, you have “clothed yourselves with Christ.” In a worldly sense, we dress for whatever occasion that might arise. As children of the King of Kings, our appropriate clothing for each day should be to “clothe ourselves with Christ.” The ones around us should see that we belong to Christ Jesus by looking at the way we live. We should always be aware that we are adorned with Christ.

This is a logical outcome of the Galatians and all of God’s children, having clothed ourselves with Christ. God views all the same, He sees no difference between any of His children, Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, we, as His children, are all one in Christ Jesus.

God is not interested in the flesh of humankind. It is in the flesh that we differ in gender, race, skin color, or national origin, the spirit does not have a color or sex. It is the spirit of humankind that Jesus quickens, not the flesh. The part of us that is made in the image of God in the spirit. God is a Spirit (John 4:24). Since we have been made in the image of one that is a spirit, then we must be spirit as well. The real us is not the flesh we see with our eyes, but the spirit that dwells within the body (John 17:21).

All believers at the point of their salvation are indwelt by the Holy Spirit who begins His work of sanctification in our hearts. And it’s through this process of spiritual growth carried out by God, that we can live our lives for Christ. Through the process of sanctification, we have the ability to carry out our lives as children of God. Through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, we have the power of God in our lives to live in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Paul concludes this chapter with further clarification on our new family status. Because we are in Christ through faith, we are now part of the promise given to Abraham. In other words, we are not only children of God, but joint-heirs with Christ in the kingdom of God. And through faith, we become children of Abraham participating in the promises given to him by God. As part of our inheritance, we participate in the spiritual blessings promised to Abraham because of his faith in God.
