Matthew 22:37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’
When our Lord and Savior died on
the cross, he did not secure a right to just a part of us but our entire being.
He Envisioned the sanctification of our entire essence, body, mind, spirit, and
soul in his loving grace. His reign and influence should be supreme in our
lives without competition. It is the business of the infant nature that God has
given to the newborn Christian to assert the Lord Jesus Christ’s rights over
ourselves. My spirit, particularly so far as it is a child of God, should vanquish
the remainder of myself that might remain unblessed. We should always confine
all of our strengths, energies, and interests to the loving arms of the
charitable rule of Christ Jesus. We should never consider ourselves completely
fulfilled until the royal celebration of the King of the universe is carried
out in our entire being.
We will see that sin has no right
to any fiber of our being when we are totally committed to marching under the
banner of Christ in our daily battle with Satan and his evil followers, be they
human are spiritual. Since our bodies, spirits, and souls are members of Christ
Jesus, we do not have to subject ourselves to the mirages and delusions of the
Prince of this world (2
Corinthians 4:4).
Since Christ Jesus suffered and died
on the Cross of Calvary redeeming us with his shed innocent blood, we should
never allow our minds and lives to become a warehouse of evil or allow our
spiritual appetites to be demagogues of immorality and wickedness. We have been
set free from surrendering our judgment to the Wiles of iniquity, and since we
belong to Christ Jesus, sin has no rights in our being.
We can, in and through the power
of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, remain confident that our spiritual
enemies can be destroyed. We have the ability in our being, through the Holy
Spirit, to overcome them. However, let us never for one heartbeat think that we
can accomplish this through our own strength. The very weakest evil spirit
would be too much for us to go up against but faced with the power of the shed
blood of Christ Jesus, the strongest of any evil spirit will be seeking a
hiding place.
Never wonder how we might dispose
of one of these evil spirits, even though they are much stronger than we are.
All we have to do is wait humbly on the Lord, and the God of Abraham will most
certainly rescue us from any attack from Satan and his evil followers. Then we
will be singing the victory as we carry the banner of the army of God.
