Bible Verse of the Day Sunday May 30th 2021

Psalm 37:3-4 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

When we trust in the Lord, we place all of our faith and trust in His direction, guidance, and protection on every aspect of our lives. Faith will eliminate worrying, fear, anxiety and a host of other negative emotions that Satan will place in our paths every day of our lives. Because our sight is blurred by the evil thoughts placed in our minds by Satan, we will perceive things as they seem which will lead to envy. However, faith holds much clearer optics to see things as they really are and will lead to peace beyond all understanding (Philippians 4:7).  True faith is active obedience thus doing good will push out any agonizing emotion that will slow us down from the life of peace and joy that our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus desires for us. Along with the activity of following God’s will for our lives instead of our own plans and schemes, there will come a joy that will clean away the corrosion of discontentment.

Dwelling in the land and enjoying safe pasture is both persistence of the Jews to the leading of God (Isaiah 1:19) and the good land that is the home of all members of the Royal Family. This heavenly and better country is for all that place their faith and trust in Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Although Heaven awaits all that are saved by the Blood of Christ Jesus, the benefits of citizenship in that land of eternal joy can be experienced right now by placing our faith and trust in our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.

There is an abundance of peace and joy when one takes their delight in the Lord instead of the ways of the world. There is a joy and peace that comes from surrendering our lives to the service of Christ Jesus that cannot be known or even comprehended by those that are seeking worldly fame and fortune. The downfall of seeking after worldly gains is that no matter how much gold and silver that one amasses, Satan will convince you that there is never enough. Then when the elusive target of attaining all that one seeks after never comes to fruition, the pendulum will swing back and forth between fear and anxiety to depression and discouragement.

The desire of our heart is the shell that surrounds all that we are or ever hope to be. The sweetest and most complete level that one can attain in life is when the desires of our heart align with the desires of the heart of God. When God’s will for our lives becomes our will there will be a leveling off to what airplane pilots refer to as straight and level flight. Although Satan will never stop his daily attacks, it will be more difficult for him to put us into a tailspin.
