John 15:7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
The largest pizza ever
made was at the Norwood Pick 'n Pay Supermarket in Johannesburg, South Africa.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the pizza was 122.7 feet in
diameter and using 1102.31 pounds of flour, 1763.7 pounds of cheese and 1984.16
pounds of tomato puree.
That said, try to imagine a pizza that large and then try to picture yourself eating the whole pizza. It would most certainly be a major undertaking. It would simply overwhelm us, but we could do it. We would need to focus on small bite-size pieces instead of the entire giant pizza.
Many undertakings in life become more manageable when we take them in small bite-size pieces. If you are building a house and look at that empty lot, it is hard to picture the finished product. We have to divide the project into smaller tasks and complete them one at a time and then the house will soon become a reality. Maybe you have been asked to direct a church project and the mission seems like more than you can handle. First, put it in God’s hands and then take it one step at a time until you see the project to completion.
We could say the same thing about our prayer life. When we make general, across-the-board request of God, we sometimes find that nothing happens. If we will break our request down into small “bite-size” portions we will start to see positive answers to our prayers.
We should make our request of God very specific and ask for things that we strongly believe are in God’s will. As we see our Lord and Savior providing answers to these smaller needs, we will be able to make grander requisitions with a larger degree of faith.
If you have found
yourself carrying extensive, universal petitions to God lately with no results
it might be time to change your tactics. Try asking for something less grand
and more particular and believe that He will answer your prayer. If you have
been asking God to get rid of all the drugs in the world, it might be more
effective to ask that the local drug dealers in your community be stopped. Then
ask God how you can be used by Him to bring about this world-shaping event.
If you have never made a prayer list this would be a good time to start. Include small bite-sized requests and then keep the list going and record the times that God answers your prayers. You must make a particular request to God if you expect Him to bring you particular answers.
