1 Chronicles 29:12-13, 15 Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name. We are foreigners and strangers in your sight, as were all our ancestors. Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope.
God is complete in that He needs nothing. He is
perfect, absolute, and whole. He is holy and righteous and is the sum of the
universe. We are the creation of this divine and perfect God. John chapter 1
tells us that Jesus is the Word and was, in this life, God in the Flesh. Christ
Jesus is our king, our creator, our sustainer, and our savior. In Him, all things
in heaven and earth were created; all of the fulness of God dwells in Him
(Colossians 1:15-20). Consequently, all riches, honor, strength, and glory
belong to God; through Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior, this means that all
the blessings we have or ever will have come from God.
The blessings we enjoy every day notwithstanding, we have thousands of excellent and wonderful promises that come from God because of the work done, in our place, on the Hill of Calvary. Promises like He will always be there holding our hands, promises like eternal life with Christ Jesus in the kingdom of heaven, promises like the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that leads, guides, and directs our every step. We do service for Christ Jesus, not because of what we might get for it, but because we love Him and desire to serve Him every day. We serve Him in many ways; one is by our service to others. As the Body of God’s church, we are to be a blessing to others. However, none of the praise goes to us; all the honor, glory, and praise goes to God. When we consider the great salvation that we have and the sacrifice made by Christ Jesus that made it possible, and the riches of the kingdom we have now and the continuation of those riches forever, we should always praise God in the good times and the not so good times.
We must be cautious of the trap of Satan, which is a habit of the world, of blaming God when these bad times come upon us. Some want to blame God for all the evil and wrong that occurs in their life. However, it is our sin and the sin of all that has brought evil into the world. Furthermore, people want to blame God when bad times come and praise themselves when the good times are rolling, even though all blessings come from God. We are told in the scriptures that in the end times, people will be lovers of evil, lovers of self, proud and boastful haters of God (2 Timothy 3:2). In that time, people will call evil good and good evil, and to some extent, we see that occurring today. As followers and believers in Christ Jesus, we must remember that we are just travelers in this lost and fallen world. This world is at enmity with God and controlled by the one Paul called “the ruler of the kingdom of the air,” which is Satan (Ephesians 2:2).
As saved born again believers in Christ Jesus we should continually praise God because He is our hope. He is our strength and promise of eternity in the Kingdom of Heaven. Because of what our Lord and Savior did on the Cross, we have been adopted into the family of God and are now joint-heirs with Christ in the Royal family of God (Ephesians 1:5; Romans 8:15; Galatians 3:23-27; Ephesians 2:19). All blessings, both spiritual and physical, comes to us through and because of God. Moreover, it is God and God alone that will keep us safe in His loving arms through all trials and tribulations as we face life in a lost, dark and fallen world that is at enmity with God.
