Bible Verse of the Day Monday March 21st, 2022

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

As we see in this chapter of James back in verses 3-5, perseverance comes from wisdom gleaned from trials: the ability to cope with great difficulties comes from prayer.

If a Christian does not have "wisdom," God will grant it to them. The word "lacks" is a financial term for falling short in one's account. Testing always requires unique wisdom to cope with trials beyond our ability to manage. Tribulations should encourage our prayer life. (Proverbs 3:5-6).

A believer that possesses wisdom uses their bibles for daily experiences. The wise Christian knows how to apply their biblical knowledge to everyday life. As a result, they will be able to apply God's Word to experience (Proverbs 4:7; Proverbs 9:10).

Wisdom is the appropriate use of knowledge. It gives us the ability to exercise the selectivity and judgment of the Word of God. We could possess excessive knowledge of the scriptures but not be able to live according to God's Word. Lacking wisdom is not knowing how to apply God's Word to our daily lives. Nevertheless, it is conceivable to have wisdom without an advanced degree in some field of education. However, we cannot utilize God's wisdom without knowing God's Word.

Implementing our prayer life signals our faith and dependence on God. As an element of our prayer life, asking God for anything is a sign of dependence. There is no substitute for prayer. When we face trials and tribulations beyond our ability to cope, God wants us to cast our every care at His throne. This process will lead us to the required wisdom needed to face any tribulation that comes our way.

God will most certainly hear and answer our prayers (Matthew 7:7-11). Our Faith in God and the promises in His Word display genuine confidence that God is always there and will never forsake us (Deuteronomy 13:6; Hebrews 13:5). However, if we go to God with just a shadow of a doubt on God's willingness and generosity, we may not hear from Him (Hebrews 11:6). Not one of us lives a life deserving of God's love, grace, and mercy; however, that is not the issue. The point is God's willingness to answer our prayers. We are not worthy of God's attention; only Jesus is deserving. That is why we pray in the name of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.
