Jude 24 To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—
Several passages in the Bible mention God being able to keep us safe and secure for eternity. This verse and so many more are solid biblical proof that once we are in the arms of our Lord and Savior, he will never let us go (John 10:28; Romans 16:25; Ephesians 3:20; Hebrews 7:25), to mention a few. Only God can keep us safe and secure; this excludes ourselves and any good works we think might suffice. Our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, will hold us tightly in His loving arms amidst all the evil Satan will attempt to throw at us. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego told King Nebuchadnezzar that God would protect them from the fiery furnace. King Nebuchadnezzar saw four men unharmed in the hot flames (Daniel 3:24). That was Christ Jesus in the furnace's flames with the three young men protecting them just as His Word promises.
At the point in our lives when we give our hearts and souls to Christ Jesus, and He saves us, it is for eternity. We sometimes begin to stumble, but today's verse assures us that God is able and will keep us from the stumbles. The responsibility for our salvation is squarely on God.
God will not only present us to Himself without fault, but it will be a presentation of incredible and exceptional joy. God will fill our hearts with joy beyond explanation in His glorious and holy presence. Salvation is permanent and cannot be forfeited (Romans 8:38-39). The Christian will not be required to hold on to their salvation because God holds it for them. This salvation is the endurance of the Savior rather than the steadfastness of the saints.
Charles Stanley tells the story about wondering if he is repented of all his sin for that day and kept his salvation. The question is when and how do we lose our salvation. Christ does not bestow eternal life on His children, then abandon us to our human self-efforts. The NT never teaches a doctrine of un-justification of sin, taking back of righteousness or forgiveness, un-adoption, un-redemption, taking back of the Holy Spirit, or the spiritual killing of one who has been made alive!
When the original construction began on the Golden gate bridge, many construction workers fell to their deaths from the bridge frame. Then in the later stages, the construction company placed a large net under the bridge. Some still fell from the bridge but were saved by the safety net.
However, more
interesting is that the workers accomplished 25% more work after the insulation
of the net. Why? Because the construction workers had the assurance of their
safety, they were free to serve the project wholeheartedly.
It is the same with our salvation; if we have to wonder if we did something today that caused us to lose our salvation, there will be many sleepless nights. However, the truth from God's Word is that God saves us by His grace and not any good works on our behalf (Ephesians 2:8-9). Therefore, it only makes sense that since there is no work we can do to gain our salvation, there is nothing we can do or fail to do to lose it.
