Bible Verse of the Day Thursday March 24th, 2022

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

When the Apostle Paul wrote these words, The Roman Government still used the Cross to execute those found guilty of the most shameful crimes. In addition, the Romans executed those that did not go along with the ideas of the Roman Government. This execution included anyone the Romans thought created a threat to the Empire.

The Cross of Christ was not foolish in the eyes of the Greeks and Romans because of atheism. They worshiped many gods, sorted in rank according to the power the people saw in the individual gods. The Greeks and Romans saw the Cross of Christ Jesus as foolish because Jesus' people turned their backs on Him. Furthermore, in the eyes of the world on that day, Jesus was crucified like any other common criminal.

For those saved in and through their faith in Christ Jesus, the Cross is the most powerful action ever seen. Our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus did not go to the Cross because He lost some battle with the Roman leaders or the Jewish leaders. He most certainly was not overcome by the day's leaders (John 10:17-18, 18;6; Matthew 26:53). Instead, Father God sacrificed His one and only Son to pay for the sins of all humankind. Despite the unlimited power that Jesus had, He freely laid down His life so that you and I can shun Satan and know the full life (John 10:10).

To those of us that know and understand the Cross of Christ was the most powerful act of God the world has ever seen, know that without the Cross we would be lost and without any hope for eternal life.
