1 Peter 2:16 Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves.
Followers
of Christ Jesus, true born again washed in the blood, saved believers are set
free from the bondage of sin and Satan. But sadly, some Christians use that
liberty as a license to sin. In applying spiritual liberty, some attempt to
twist Bible doctrine into an excuse for evil. Yet, in obedience to God's
principles, we are liberated from servitude to Satan. Ironically, we are free
because we are in servitude to God. Authentic Christian freedom is not a free
ride to do as we please but to follow the will of God. It is difficult for the
world to comprehend that servitude to God is complete human freedom. True
spiritual freedom is the right to choose between options. The most fantastic
freedom that anyone can enjoy is a close relationship with God and living
according to His directives. God set up His standards for the well-being of His
followers.
God
sets the Christian free from sin and Satan (John 8:36). God's Word is obvious
and concise concerning projecting our liberty in Christ Jesus to follow a
sinful path. Instead, we are supposed to use our freedom in Christ Jesus to
show God's love, grace, and mercy to the world.
Followers
and believers in Christ Jesus enjoy freedom because we do not have to prove
ourselves to be accepted by God. On the contrary, we have the acceptance of God
the Father because of what God the Son (Christ Jesus) did for us on the Cross
of Calvary. Consequently, we are not under the domination of Satan, no longer
in servitude to the evil one or any of his followers, human or spiritual. We
are not to use this freedom to follow a sinful path but to follow Christ Jesus
and the precepts of His gospel. Freedom abuse is like a mighty waterway
jumping its banks and wreaking havoc on the inhabitants along the river.
To
know real freedom is to not be in servitude to another person. True Godly
freedom is to not be harnessed by the control of sin, in that sin may not hold
any bonds or chains on us. There can be no love in our hearts for Christ Jesus
if we disobey His Biblical precepts. God has set us free from Satan and sin in
order that we might point others to Him, the most excellent cause spiritual freedom
can be used for.
