Bible Verse of the Day Monday May 23rd, 2022

Psalm 139:9-10 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

Rising on the wings of the Dawn could possibly be David referring to the coverage of the dawn as the sun rises in the east and spreads its light for all to share. Charles Spurgeon once said: “Light flies with inconceivable rapidity, and it flashes far afield beyond all humankind; it illuminates the great and wide sea and sets its waves gleaming afar, but its speed would utterly fail if employed in flying from the Lord.”

Some in life wake up one day and realize that they are somewhere they should not be. I guess for those folks, the presence of God might be somewhat terrifying. However, for all that have a personal relationship with Christ Jesus, all that have accepted Him as their Lord and Savior will find great comfort in knowing God is always there. In this Psalm, David is comforted, knowing that God will not abandon him wherever he is. Wherever our travels and our life may take us, we can know that God is always there to guide us and protect us beyond any shadow of a doubt. Christ Jesus acknowledged himself as the “Good Shepard” (John 10:11), and as such, He separates Himself from the false shepherds that neither lead nor protect their flock. Jesus also promised His followers and believers that He would always protect and care for them (John 10:28).

We can thank and praise God that there will never be a day that we will have to face our battles alone. When we get to the point that we think we can’t find the strength to go forward, we can place ourselves in His loving arms; He will see us through.

Settling on the far side of the sea in this verse could be David referring to his death. However, David was so sure that the Hand of God would always be with him that the grave could not separate him from the love of God. Paul once said that there is nothing in creation, even death, that can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:38).
