Bible Verse of the Day Sunday May 22nd 2022

Psalm 86:5 You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.

There is not a sweeter blessing from God than Forgiveness. However, God goes much farther than just forgiving us; He does not remember our sins.

Hebrews 8:12 For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.

Hebrews 10:17 Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.

God does not forget because He is a perfect being. The fact that He will not remember our sins and our lawless acts means that He will not hold them against us. God bestows upon His great grace and mercy. God does not bring our sins up before Himself because Jesus paid our sin debt on the Cross of Calvary.

In our interaction with other people, we have the freedom to remember an offense someone has committed against us or not to remember it. To truly forgive someone, we must put painful memories out of our minds. We may never forget an offense committed against us, but we can choose to overlook it. A simple act of forgiveness precludes us from brooding over some past problem. God chooses not to treat us as our sin deserves. God tells us that He removes our sin from us as far as the east is from the west, an incalculable distance (Psalm 103:12). If we begin an eastern journey around the globe, when would we stop going east and start going west?

The Mosaic Law could not deal with sin in its completeness. The thorough cleansing of our sin is only possible because of the Sacrifice of Christ Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. God’s love is not rationed out or on a selection process. On the contrary, He dispenses His love upon us if we sincerely serve him as our God and Father. As born again, washed in the blood, followers, and believers in Christ Jesus, we can confidently know that our Father God longs to bestow blessings upon us that earthly calculations can never measure. As we cry out and seek the forgiveness of God and sing praises to His Holy Name, we can confidently know that our heavenly Father longs to bestow us with blessings of His love, grace, and mercy.
