2 Peter 1:4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
There are many divine
functioning resources from God that every Christian has. These blessings from
God are there whether we recognize them or not, whether or not we take
advantage of them. The sad fact is that some people reject other Christians for
a sin they committed that they think is worse than their sins. Then some TV
preacher rails on about rejection of God if you commit certain sins. Then
Without warning, people in your Christian circle begin to turn their backs on
you, and suddenly you feel unwelcomed in your body of Christ.
How can we be assured that
God's plan still includes all when other Christians shun us for some particular
sin. If you still have a pulse and are still breathing, God's plan of Salvation
applies to all. God's Salvation Plan does not rest on who we are or anything we
do; it rests solely on who Christ Jesus is and what He did on the Cross of
Calvary.
Because of the false
prosperity gospel that has become so popular with TV evangelists, too many
believe that God will fill their coffers with excess gold and silver if they
come to church and give their 10 percent. So they say, "I'll go along with
the façade of being a Christian, and I can get something earthly or material
for my efforts.
God's entire operational
procedure rests on His love, mercy, and grace. All that we have in this life is
because of the grace of God. If someone does not know how to receive this
grace, it is because of a lack of knowledge of God (2 Peter 1:3).
If we are oblivious to God's
many blessings in store for all people, then we are in danger of living our
Christian lives by emotionalism. We will be satisfied by going from one
spiritual shot in the arm to the next and the next, and so on. Good works will not
lead to a knowledge of the many resources we have in Christ Jesus. Sadly, too
many Christians today will go after spiritual panaceas as long as it will not
require serious Bible study.
