Bible Verse of the Day Wednesday May 25th 2022

Hebrews 10:39 But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.

This verse from the Book of Hebrews describes God’s people preceding the “hall of Fame of Faith” in the eleventh chapter of Hebrews. Looking at God’s people over the many years that the bible covers, we are assured they are not the kind of people that run away in the grips of fear and distress. They did have their setbacks and hindrances, but they were not the kind of people that surrendered to their enemy at the first sign of trouble. On the contrary, God’s people throughout the Bible were the kind of people who did not give up on their calling from God just because their paths grew rough and rocky.

As God’s people today, we can be those that continue and remain forward in our walk with Christ Jesus. We will persist ahead and receive the promises of God as did the saints of old. We will not shrink back into ancient traditions of humanity or any substitution theology put forth by false teachers prodded on by Satan. Retreating on the battlefield in the Army of Christ Jesus is allowing ourselves to be influenced by the evil of our enemy. Satan knows that he cannot take away our salvation; Jesus died on the Cross to atone for our past, present, and future sins. However, Satan can draw us into worldly activities that will cause us to take our eyes off Jesus.

The keyword in the verse of the day today (Hebrews 10:29) is faith. Through our faith and trust in Christ Jesus and His sacrificial work on Calvary, it will allow us to have the victory on any battlefield against Satan. In the Armor of God, (Ephesians 6:10-17). The shield of faith will allow us to block all of Satan’s flaming arrows, and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, will send Satan into full retreat.

Helen Lemmel wrote a Hymn in 1922 with an unambiguous message on this matter: “Turn your eyes on Jesus, and the things of this world will grow strangely dim” (Hebrews 12:2).
