Hebrews 2:3-4 how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will.
Salvation
is the dominant thesis throughout the Bible and undeniably the very spirit of
the gospel. Salvation is an assurance, the truth, and the only hope of eternal
life. Our enemy consists of four divisions: Sin, death, regret, and Satan
himself. Every human being needs to have their sins forgiven, and this can only
occur through Christ Jesus, who through Him alone can we obtain salvation. We
cannot find salvation through any specific religion or denomination or any good
deeds that we might perform; salvation comes only through a person, Christ
Jesus (Romans 10:13; John 14:6).
There
is a difference between drifting away from our salvation and rejecting
salvation altogether. Drifting occurs when we ignore or disregard our forward
motion, our daily spiritual growth in our Christian walk. This process is
called sanctification, and requires daily spiritual exercise, Bible study,
prayer, fellowship with other Christians, and service to God.
If
disdain and neglect for the Mosaic Law brought severe measures, then apathy
toward the message of the gospel of Christ Jesus will get more extensive
sanctions. God will deal gravely with all that disrespect or disregards His
Word. The statement in this verse of scripture does not describe the specific
retribution; however, the writer of Hebrews does include himself in the” we”
portion of the warning. This verse of scripture and the entire Book of Hebrews
was not written for those outside the faith. But to followers of Christ Jesus.
The Hebrews writer targeted those who had accepted Christ Jesus as their savior
but had drifted away.
God
authenticates His message through an expansive diversity of celestial action.
Signs, wonders, and innumerable miracles denoted the ministry work of Christ
Jesus and His Apostles (Acts 2:43). The distribution of the gifts of the
indwelling of the Holy Spirit confirmed the truth of the words spoken by Christ
Jesus. We cannot go very long without physical nourishment; we would starve to
death. Similarly, we cannot go very long without the spiritual food of God’s
Holy Word. The result of a lack of God’s Word is that our enemy Satan will be
able to fill the void that we have in our lives with His lies and deceits.
