Bible Verse of the Day Saturday June 11th, 2022

John 6:20-21 But he said to them, “It is I; don’t be afraid.” Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.

Jesus comes to his followers to comfort them in their most dreaded fear - a storm on the ocean. He is in a real sense telling them, "I am, don't be afraid." Two essential things are apparent here for us to take note of. In the first place, Jesus utilizes a name ("I Am") that recognizes himself with God, who freed Moses and the Israelites from Egypt. Second, he employs a shockingly successive order viewed throughout the Bible: "Don't be afraid." When we welcome Jesus into our lives during the center of our tempests and life's storms, he also says to us, "I am, don't be afraid!" More importantly, He is there for us to find our direction to our most significant objective, eternal life.

We can always be assured that Jesus will be in our figurative boat when we go through the roughest of storms in our lives. In this account we remember that He came to them walking on the water. This miracle demonstrates that Christ Jesus is supreme and dominant over material things, such as bodies of water. The presence of Jesus in the boat that day with His disciples brough about a peace they had never encountered. We can rest assured that Jesus is present in our lives today through the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. Furthermore, we can know the same peace that his disciples had that day on the Sea of Galilee.

Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.

It could be stated that Jesus rescued His followers that day in the boat from exasperation and ineffectiveness, since they saw the storm as out of their control. Jesus desires that we work hard but we do not have to work in futility. The work that the Apostles did in the boat that day had not been futile, however it awaited the effect of the presence of divine power.
