Ephesians 1:21-23 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
God exalted Christ Jesus at His ascension to be above all authority and power, angelic and human. This verse shows that Christ Jesus was not only simply above all force in the universe but far above. God made it clear that this was to be, not only in this life we know today on earth but for all time and eternity. The greatest of all victories that Christ Jesus claimed at His ascension is also a victory for all believers and followers in Christ Jesus. Christians should be acutely aware of the magnitude and immensity of the power Jesus wields over all dominions, human and angelic, including Satan. This message should encourage all believers to understand that we do not have to be defeated by Satan and His evil powers because the power of Christ is far and above any power Satan thinks he might manipulate. As saved by the blood of Christ, born-again believers, we have the authority to take our case to our mediator between us and God, who is Christ Jesus. Satan does not have a chance when we plead our case before our solicitor, our mediator with God, Christ Jesus (1 John 2:1). Because He has never lost a case, and He will never lose one (1 Timothy 2:5-6).
God has consigned Christ Jesus to be the head of all church functions. Some confuse this phrase with denominational organizations, thinking about the church as an entity. This verse makes it clear that the church spoken of here is the body of Christ Jesus, the believers, and followers of Christ. His fullness filling the church, the symbolic body of Christ, is His life and character, the driving force for every ministry that spreads His gospel to the ends of the earth. As Christians, we are the church of Christ Jesus, the branches of Him who is the vine. Christ Jesus is the tree of life, the bread and water of life, and the light that shines out to a lost, dark, and dying world.
Christ Jesus has complete control over all in heaven and all on earth. Though He has dominance and power over the entire universe, He is still involved in the daily life of all His believers and followers. Every Christian’s life is based on and built upon the person and work of Christ Jesus. The same as the body is the balance and accompaniment of the head; the church is the complement of Christ Jesus. He fills the church with the love and care of all the great blessings that only He could provide for our good and His glory. When we finally commit ourselves, body, soul, mind, and spirit entirely to His will, not our own, we will see Christ Jesus in a light that we could have never even imagined (Philippians 2:13).
