Luke 15:10 In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.
There is a line from a song entitled “Just One More Soul.” “Cause if just one more soul were to walk down the aisle, it would be worth every struggle, it will be worth every mile. A lifetime of labor is still worth it all if it rescues just one more Soul”. Many Christians today believe that witnessing to one person at a time is not essential. We find the truth in God’s Word, which is contrary. There are many accounts in the New Testament of Jesus witnessing to one person. He indeed preached to huge crowds many times, but He was intensely aware of the importance of “just one more soul.”
John chapter 3 tells us of one such soul, Nicodemus, who came to Jesus in the night. John chapter 4 recounts His visit with the woman at the well that resulted in an entire village coming to know Christ Jesus.
I will never forget the first person that I led to Christ. It was on a construction project; I had sat down for lunch next to a pile of plywood and was reading my bible. A young man came up and asked if he could lay down on that pile of plywood to take a nap, then asked if I was reading the bible. I told him I was and then asked him if I could talk to him about Christ Jesus; he said he would love to hear about Jesus and the gospel, and then a few minutes later, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. There have been many more since then, but the joy from leading someone to Jesus has never diminished.
Satan will tell you that one soul here and there is not essential because he is afraid that the one soul you might lead to Christ might get on fire and lead more and more souls to the saving knowledge of Jesus. So, when Mr. Kimble, a Sunday school teacher, came to the boot shop where D. L. Moody was working and first told him of the love of Christ and the gospel, he had no idea of the great and mighty way God would use Brother Moody in the furtherance of the gospel.
There are also times that you plant a seed, and someone else might harvest that plant. Some might get discouraged when they witness to someone, and they don’t accept Christ at that moment. Remember that God always has a plan, and you are a part of that plan. The result is still the same, one more lost soul saved from an eternity in hell. When Satan knocks on your door and tells you there is no need to witness that one person God has laid on your heart to talk to, read the verse from our text today.
The most significant celebration known to humanity is the saving of one soul because the festival does not stop here on earth, “rejoicing in the presence of the angels.” The last part of the song mentioned earlier in this writing, “Just One More Soul,” has a line that states: “The Angels gather together surrounding the throne, they’ll start rejoicing for just one more soul”
