Revelation 21:4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
There have been many tears
shed during this time on earth, Mary and Martha, over the death of their
brother, the widow of Nain, weeping over the death of her son. There have been
many tears of sympathy and mercy, Jeremiah, as well as Jesus, wept over the sins
and catastrophes of Israel. There have been tears for the innocent being
persecuted, for disappointment, failure, regret and neglect as well as tears of
desire and longing for something we could not have.
All the tears that have fallen
in our state of humanity will be dried. There will be no more pain, sorrow, and
death in the New Jerusalem, where all of God’s people will reside. The curse
placed on humanity at the expulsion from the Garden will be lifted (Genesis 3:16-19), and all things will
be made new. God is not going to repair His creation; He is going to re-create
the earth for the peace and enjoyment of His Children forever. We, as adopted
children of God, will enjoy the benefits of being part of the Royal Family of
God for all eternity.
When Jesus was on the earth,
His disciples had no worries for what they wore, where they were going to sleep
or what they were going to eat, Jesus saw to their every need (Matthew 6:31). Jesus is doing that
today, if we will just leave our earthly security in His hands, and not try to
fix it all on our own. We can enjoy the knowledge that He will “never leave us
or forsake us” (Deuteronomy 31:6;
Hebrews 13:5; Joshua 1:9), not just here in this life but for all eternity.
There will be no reason for
tears in heaven because we are no longer under the influence of Satan. He will
have done his best on us before our earthly death, and since we are not going
to suffer the second death, Satan will have no reach on us in Heaven (Revelation 20:14).
All the tears spoken of in the
writing above are tears of regret, pain, and suffering, not tears of
repentance. There is a parable spoken about a man reaching heaven who was told
to go back to earth and bring back the most valuable thing on earth. He first
returned with gold and was told that gold had no value in Heaven, then he came
back with some silver and again was told, it had no value in heaven either. He
made a few more trips with other earthly items and was told the same thing. He
went back to earth and while walking through a park, saw a man sitting on a
bench, crying tears of repentance, he collected one of those tears and returned
to heaven. This time he was told he had brought back the most valuable thing on
earth, a tear of repentance.
