Bible Verse of the Day Thursday July 28th 2022

 Psalm 62:2 Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. 

We hear about earthquakes and other natural disasters from time to time. The San Andreas Fault divides California into two sections, and there is called for, one day the “Big One” when part of California might just drop into the sea. Then we would be hearing songs about the “Coast of Colorado.” 

This world we live in is shaky at best, physically and spiritually, Satan makes sure that everyone that will listen to his lies, will have their lives filled with allusions and fantasy. There is only one true solid rock we can stand on and that is our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus (Matthew 7:24-27; 2 Samuel 22:2). If we are going to be able to stand during the strong winds of false teachings, we must put our faith and trust in Christ Jesus and not in ourselves or something this world has to offer (Ephesians 4:14). 

David said He is my rock and my salvation, this is a beautiful picture of David, the King of Israel putting his faith and trust in the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords. 

There are only two groups of people in the world. Some look to themselves, to live the law to find a right standing before God, and the ones that have their faith in the fact that we cannot do anything about our salvation, only God can. 

The true believer in Christ Jesus knows that there is protection on the “Solid Rock of Ages”, however, the fully committed Christian knows that although there is a fortress in Christ Jesus, we are soldiers of God fighting a war every day of our lives. If we keep on the full “Armor of God” we will be able to withstand the fiery darts that Satan will be shooting at us (Ephesians 6:10-18). We must also keep in our minds that all the Armor of God is defensive, except for the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17). If we wear the defensive armor, we will be able to stand in the attacks of Satan. However, if we want to move forward and take new ground, learn more about God, we must take up the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

There can be no growth if we are standing still, that comes only when we move in a forward direction, and that is only through a knowledge of the Word of God. God said many years ago, through the Prophet Hosea, that a lack of Knowledge is Killing my people (Hosea 4:6). This will always be the case when Christians refuse to see the importance of prayer and bible study. One last thought, if you look at the word SWORD and take away the “S”, you are left with the WORD.
