Bible Verse of the Day Tuesday July 12th, 2022

Colossians 1:22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.

There is a bumper sticker that we occasionally see that reads: "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven!" In one respect, that is a true statement; however, from God's standpoint, Christians are perfect. Because of the reconciliation given us through the sacrifice on Calvary, God sees us as "holy in His sight, without blemish and free of accusations." This miracle is because when God looks at us, He does not see us; he sees His Son Christ Jesus in us. God sees our merit in and through Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary. Jesus paid a sin debt that we owed, sharing His perfection with us. Our daily goal should be striving to be more like Christ, although we will never reach that goal in this life. Let us all seek to resemble the perfection of Christ through the grace of God freely given us.

The body of Christ spoken of in this verse of scripture was His literal, physical body while on earth. Reconciliation would not be possible without the bodily death of Jesus on the Cross (Hebrews 9:22). Furthermore, there could not have been a literal death if Jesus had not been fully human (Hebrews 2:17; 10:10; 1 Peter 2:24). At the heartbeat of placing our faith and trust in Christ Jesus and His sacrifice on Calvary, our status before God stands perfect for eternity.

The very moment we come to Christ Jesus and accept Him as our Lord and Savior, God places all the eternal wealth of Christ Jesus in our account. We then spend the remainder of our Christian Walk in this life learning of the miracle of Salvation through the Gospel of Christ Jesus. The very second we surrender our lives, heart, soul, mind, and body to Christ Jesus, God places all that Jesus is before Him in our eternal account.
