1 John 4:15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them, and they in God.
There are six
modest words spoken by anyone that can change lives, "Jesus is the Son of
God." These are immeasurably more than mere words; they are the gateway to
the Kingdom of God. When we acknowledge, accept, and place our faith in Christ
Jesus as the world's Savior, we welcome God into our lives, hearts, and souls.
Unfortunately, there is a pronounced parallel between our beliefs and actions;
many have said they believe in Christ Jesus but have not trusted Him as their
Lord and Savior (Romans 10:8-11).
We must know what
we believe and whom we have placed our faith and trust. It is not adequate to
understand that Jesus lived a perfect life, and we should emulate His life.
Still, we must realize He was the Son of God; the promised Messiah from the
beginning of time (Genesis 3:15). It is much more than a knowledgeable
concurrence to the historical fact that He did exist; we must accept Him as our
Lord and Savior. Furthermore, we must surrender ourselves to Him, forgetting
our wants and desires and binding ourselves to His will.
We must realize,
understand, and accept that He came into this world for a specific reason. He
was born to go to the Cross to suffer and die for our sins. He paid our sin
debt that He did not owe, that we could never pay, so we might live with Him in
Eternity. Some get the wrong idea about eternity, believing that it begins at
our last breath here in this life. Eternity with Christ Jesus starts at the
first heartbeat that we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Because of the gift
of the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit, we can spend every second here in this
life with the same glory that will be ours when we go home to be with Him. The
formula is simple, the more we surrender to Him, the closer our hearts will
blend with His and the closer we can walk with Him.
