Bible Verse of the Day Tuesday August 9th, 2022

Romans 5:5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

There is a world of difference between worldly hope and Godly Hope. Earthly hope is the feeling of anticipated expectation, a desire for certain things to happen. For example, I hope my rich uncle leaves me his fortune when he dies. Godly hope is much more than a desire for something good to happen in the future; it believes it is going to happen beyond any shadow of a doubt. A pilot might say that a good tailwind is our only hope of arriving on time. But unfortunately, the pilot cannot be sure that the tailwind is coming. We say our hope is in the fact that Jesus is coming back to the earth just like he said he was (Acts 1:11; 1 Peter 1:13).

Our hope as Christians does not put us to shame because it generates confidence in us, as His followers and believers, that He will keep all His promises. On the contrary, it reinforces our sureness and certainty because there is no doubt that everything in His Holy Word is true (Romans 9:23).

Our hope rests on the assurance of our salvation, knowing that we are wrapped tightly in the arms of God. We can be sure of our blessed hope, knowing that our salvation is sealed tight in Christ Jesus. We have been assured of the hope of our salvation by Jesus because of the greatest act of love known to humankind, the sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary (John 10:28-29).

God assured us that the intensity of hope would never dissipate in our hearts and souls by filling us with the most significant power known to humankind, the power of the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. This same spirit keeps our hope alive and fills us with a consciousness of the loving presence of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus (Romans 8:11). God will never leave or forsake us; He is always there for us and not against us. Sometimes the rocky roads and dark valleys we must endure tend to cloud the truth of God. When the love of God truly clutches us to the point that it becomes evident in our hearts and souls, we will come to comprehend and understand all the blessings that He has bestowed upon us.

There will come a day when God transforms us into His magnificent holy image. We are looking at a bright and sunny future God has given us through our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. What a great and wonderful hope we have, knowing that one day we will stand in the presence of God.
