2 Corinthians 13:14 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
The
Apostle Paul’s desire was for all God’s children to receive the most marvelous
blessing imaginable. To be blessed with the beautiful and amazing grace of
Christ Jesus is much more than we deserve and more than any earthly
measurement can determine. As if that were not enough, Paul wants us to
experience the Greatest love known to humankind, the Love of God. By the time
God bestows upon us these two blessings, we might feel that there is no room
for anything else. However, Paul also wants us to fellowship with the Holy
Spirit daily. Charles Hodge (December 27th, 1797- June 18th, 1878) was the
principal of Princeton Theological Seminary from 1851 until his death in 1878)
He once said: “A genuine Christian pursues and enjoys the grace of the Lord
Jesus, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.”
This
blessing from Paul to all who read this letter was that all believers and
followers of Christ Jesus would live in an atmosphere of God’s grace.
Gratefulness for God’s grace dispels self-confidence and positions one’s faith
in the hands of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. Furthermore, gratitude for
the great love of God will be the driving force in the lives of all who
surrender themselves to Christ Jesus. Finally, thankfulness for His love and
grace will remove any jealousy and strife that Satan might send us. Paul’s
longing was that the Spirit of God among those saved by His grace might unite
their lives into fellowship with one another.
When
one chooses to live by faith per the Grace of God, all self-interest and
self-audaciousness will disappear from their life. Negative and evil
characteristics like pride, discord, conflict, and resentfulness are restrained
in the life of one that follows Christ Jesus. But, of course, this could not be
without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit of God, leading, guiding, and
directing our every step.
When
we fellowship with the Holy Spirit, we will have the grace of Christ Jesus and
the Love of God, which works both ways because all three are indivisible. When
the Body of Christ, represented in any local church, understands this, lives
accordingly, and gets their lives right with God, there will be an
indescribable revival of a magnitude unknown to humanity.
